Art Deco Hallway Project in Manchester

Having worked with David and Angelene on other projects in their house, we had a good level of understanding for their taste and how their familys’ lifestyle.  (Take a look at their completed Master Bedroom and Playroom interiors)

They wanted a bold and original entrance to their home, with a nod it’s Art Deco roots.  The hall and landing are both lovely and spacious so downstairs and we enhanced this feeling of space with a large bespoke smoked mirror and fretwork design to create a showstopping feature.

The bench was our client’s own piece and looks brand new with a coat of rich grey paint and some colourful velvet cushions, providing a useful place for the children to sit when putting on their shoes.

Other features include an embossed graphic wallpaper frieze, a unique beveled mirror console and a luxurious carpet runner to enhance their beautiful central staircase, complete with deco style stair rods for an added touch of glam.

We added pops of colour to the monochrome scheme with coloured velvet cushions with contrasting piping, a bold pink table lamp and the client’s own brightly coloured art pieces.  Shaped and studded pelmets conceal simple roman blinds and again add just a touch of 1930s design to the feature windows.

“My favourite area of this design is the bespoke cabinetry on the extra wide landing.  The chunky shelving, deco-style arrangement and smooth matt grey, look so sleek and modern in this period home.  We added extra lighting and dressed with the family’s own collection of books and collectibles. I think its a successful mix of contempoarry and deco-inspored design, which is exactly what this client desired – Hannah”
