Ideal Home Show, Manchester

If you missed Manchester’s first ever official Ideal Home Show, we’ve compiled some of the interior highlights right here!

Of course, we were proud and excited to create our very own room set for the show, inspired by Manchester United Football team.  This Red Room was voted the favourite in our recent Red v Blue Interior Design challenge at intu Trafford Centre by thousands of shoppers, and so we enhanced and extended it into a full room for the show.  (See our Trafford Centre Sets here)

We brought the international flair of the football team from Italy with gorgeous furniture from Natuzzi Italia, including the beautiful Savoy in a deep red leather, and one of their latest recliner models, Revive in dazzling white leather.  These pieces set the tone for a glamorous and sparkling room, most likely lived in by a young, professional couple who enjoy the best nightlife in Manchester.

With shimmering wallpaper from Next, Reflect smoked mirrored console table from Dwell, and Football inspired lighting from BHS, the design gathered products from many intu Trafford Centre retailers to showcase what is on offer at Barton Square.

Our favourite finishing touches include the urban and artistic mosaic from Manchester-based artist Amanda McCrann, the ‘this seat is reserved’ cushion from BHS and the bold and catchy ‘Glory Glory’ canvas art print from BigBoxArt, which helped to create a real-life setting for two ultra glamorous Manchester-United fans.

Keen eyes may have noticed all the red, black and white references to Manchester and its famous football team, including the photograph of a couple in football shirts, a pair of sparkly heels and designer handbag, tossed to the floor after a long day working in the city centre, an up-cycled locker in the corner…now used as an urban style storage unit, as well as the fab initial mugs spelling U.T.D on the marble Natuzzi Cabaret table top.

The Ideal Home Show was full of inspiring room sets created by department stores, including the fantastic retro-inspired set by John  Lewis, to celebrate their 150 year anniversary.  We love the warm mustard yellow and iconic Twiggy photographic art.

Dwell went down a contemporary design route with their famous quirky touches, including the Porous white fruit bowl (also featured in our Red Room with red apples instead of oranges!) and clever use of muted colours, brought to life with pops of bright accessories.

Finally, Laura Ashley combined their well-know pretty styling with clever paper art – such a great idea to use origami to bring your walls to life!

To summarize, we had a huge amount of fun at this show, and would welcome your feedback on our Red Room…as well as the chance to do it all again ext year!
