A Cosy Snug with Tribal vibes
Two spaces celebrating the needs of my husband and wife client.. a cosy retreat snug for her to relax with her friends, and a masculine office for him to take meetings and listen to records.
Both spaces hang beautifully together with their use of warm textures, bespoke furniture, curved edges and tribal influences in textiles and prints.
And this room’s best kept secret is the way these rooms connect together – the left ha d bookcase opens to reveal a secret door, which is concealed with panelling in the office – can you spot it?
Other interesting details can be spotted with a practical machine washable rug to soften the original herringbone floors, oversized irregular mirror and black metal side board for a contemporary touch.
Note the elegant arches echoed in the office walls and cabinetry, hints of antique brass and rust and brown tones throughout to create a welcoming and homely atmosphere each person can enjoy in their individually tailored space.
To illuminate the client’s South African heritage, I highlighted and styled her own artwork, dressed the bookcases with well chosen pieces and hand selected soft furnishings to blend texture, colour and print I know she’ll love for years.
